What We Do
The New Story Group of Waterloo Region is a grass-roots organization and the members represent a range of organizations and areas of interest including developmental disabilities, aging, health and well-being, mental health, and neighbourhood development. Our work is to advocate and influence a vision for Waterloo Region as a welcoming community, valuing all people so they can participate in, and contribute fully to community life. The New Story Group was started in 2010 by people with disabilities, families and agencies to start a ‘new story’ of inclusion, a movement that provides strategies and common language to achieve the vision.
The New Story Group supports and develops projects such as:
- The Waterloo Region Family Network: Supporting the families of children with special needs.
- Facile: Independent Facilitation Waterloo Region: Assisting people with disabilities and their families to plan for and build a good life in the community.
- The Belonging Conversations: A series of Community Conversations on Belonging that engage a wide range of Sectors and citizens on belonging.
The New Story Group of Waterloo Region would like to thank its partners for their support and collaboration in building a community where everyone belongs. Partners include:
